This Autumn our Angela & Co Pop Ups are back with another one-off evening in HH&Co and inspiring cookery workshop with chef, restaurateur and food writer Adam Byatt.
Adam is a chef firstly but also a restaurateur and food writer. He has also appeared on screen many times, as a regular on BBC1's Saturday kitchen, as well as appearances on Celebrity Masterchef and Great British Menu. Adam works hard to mentor young chefs starting out in the business both at his restaurants and also through his work with the Academy of Culinary Arts.
Adam's family were all great cooks and food lovers, so his career path was inevitable, he began his career at the age of 16 when he was offered an apprenticeship as a chef at the legendary Claridge's Hotel. After a period at the Berkeley Hotel, Adam began a prosperous tenure with 'chef's chef' Phil Howard at The Square in Mayfair. Impressing with his penchant for hard work and clear cooking talent, Adam was appointed sous chef, helping the restaurant earn its second Michelin star in 1998.
In 2001, Adam opened his first restaurant - Thyme in Clapham. Thyme was an instant success winning countless awards, but in 2006 he returned to his heartland of Clapham and took the prominent site within Clapham Old Town and launched Trinity. Since opening Trinity has been awarded three AA rosettes and was both AA London Restaurant of the year 2007/8 and Time Out's Best Local Restaurant 2007/8 and was awarded a Michelin star in 2016. In 2012, Adam opened a sister restaurant to Trinity in Clapham: Bistro Union is a quintessentially British Bistro providing all-day dining in a relaxed environment. Bistro Union has held a coveted Bib Gourmand since 2010. In 2015, Adam oversaw the extensive refurbishment of Trinity, including a new dining room on the first floor, Upstairs, providing contemporary relaxed dining. He was recently appointed Director of Food and Beverage at Brown's Hotel in Mayfair, overseeing the direction of its food offering including the new restaurant, Charlie's.
"Personally, I think Adam is one of the great talents of London, he is naturally very gifted and has fantastic classical training. Yet he's young enough to have a desire to play with the new wizardry. His food is fun. Its modern and completely up to date. He deserves real success".
-Phillip Howard, chef and co-owner of The Square, Mayfair
Adam has earned a reputation for honest cooking designed to showcase the very best local produce. The food Adam serves has been described as 'imaginative food bursting with vibrant colours'.
Adam will be bringing his London flair to Hartnett Holder & Co for one night only this Autumn.
